The drought has come to a sudden end in a number of places in Eastern Australia with heavy rain and major flooding. Storms were a little less frequent than in early December, but nonetheless there have been some amazing reports produced:

Conditions in Eastern Australia in the period 5th - 12th December were more conducive to producing severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and hail due to the stronger stearing winds and increased shear.

Jimmy Degaura of www.australiasevereweather.com has captured what must be some of the most extraordinary footage (13mb file) of a tornado on the ground in Australia at Dunoon near Lismore on 26th October. An initial assessment by Jimmy and Michael Bath rate it as an F-1 tornado:
