Michael Bath has put together an amazingly detailed report of the history of flooding in Lismore going back to 1917. Included are synoptic maps, rainfall data, and for recent events, satellite imagery. Fantastic stuff.

The drought has come to a sudden end in a number of places in Eastern Australia with heavy rain and major flooding. Storms were a little less frequent than in early December, but nonetheless there have been some amazing reports produced:

Conditions in Eastern Australia in the period 5th - 12th December were more conducive to producing severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and hail due to the stronger stearing winds and increased shear.
